CLOUDS PINOT NOIR 2015

CLOUDS CHENIN BLANC 2014

TASTING NOTES

This old bush vine Chenin blanc was made from a 40 year old vineyard in the Paardeberg appellation in the Swartland. The very old decomposed granite soil of this region is reflected perfectly in this wine’s mineral, almost saline notes on the nose and palate. Fresh on entry with some green lime and kiwi fruit backed by a bracing acidity throughout. Fermented naturally in an oxidative style and matured in old French barrels for 11 months.

ENJOY

This semi-serious chenin goes great with a variety of seafood dishes and creamy pastas, it has enough acidity to hold its own and cut through the richness of these foods.

The wine shows fresh yeasty aromas on the nose. The palate is clean and crisp, with green apple and a delicious sweet/sour character, leading to a long, creamy finish. This wine is made from 100% chardonnay grapes and spent 12 months on the lees, adding extra finesse.

ENJOY

This wine has celebration written all over it, and goes extremely well smoked salmon or grilled tuna.  We particularly

like it with breakfast, we serve it daily on our breakfast buffet.

CLOUDS PINOT NOIR 2015

TASTING NOTES

This wine is more concentrated than previous vintages and much more intense in colour as a result of a perfect 2015 vintage. The nose shows a medley of perfumed red and black fruit with typical cherry, cassis adn even some earthy undertones already in its youth that will become more pronounced as the wine matures. It is dense and fresh with just the right balance of acidity.

ENJOY

This red beauty will age well – that’s assuming you manage to resist drinking it before then. In summer, it is delicious when chilled, served just a few degrees below room temperature.

 CLOUDS SAUVIGNON BLANC 2016

Clouds vinyards

CLOUDS CHARDONNAY 2014

TASTING NOTES

Light yellow in colour with hints of lime green. With the grapes sourced from a very unique and isolated site in the cold Bokkeveld area we wanted to express the terroir of the wine as best possible by minimum interference in the cellar. Fermented naturally in older French barrels this wine shows rich, leesy characteristics with crushed seashells, citrus and white peach on the nose. The palate is very mineral with stone fruit and chalk dominating

CLOUDS

SAUVIGNON BLANC 2016

TASTING NOTES

This wine shows typical lime, green melon and fig on the nose but also some riper tropical fruits on the palate as a result of the grapes being picked slightly riper than in the past. This leads to a more balanced and mouth-filling wine with less aggressive acidity and a long mineral finish.

ENJOY

Ice cold, on its own or goes well with a variety of dishes.  Save it for a year (if you can) because it will only become better with age.

BLEND INFORMATION

100% sauvignon blanc

AGING POTENTIAL

To be enjoyed now, but will mature well for another 3-4years.

CLOUDS SHIRAZ 2014

TASTING NOTES

This 2014 Shiraz shows very perfumed purple fruit on the nose which also leads to the palate. The concentration and density of the Shiraz is balanced by good acid tension and delicate fruit. Soft and textured with loads of dark spice and a mineral finish.  Wine was oaked for 18 months in seasoned casks (no new oak) and only 9 barrels was produced. The wine was left to ferment naturally, and 30% of the bunches were whole pressed. These grapes grew in the Swartland, more specifically in the Riebeeksrivier, at the bottom of the Riebeek mountains. The soil composition is a combination of clay and Schist soil (slate).

ENJOY

This wine is the perfect choice with game dishes.  Chef Cole paired it with crispy pork belly and Cajun spices for the Clouds tasting plates.

AGEING POTENTIAL

Drink now or over the next 10 years.

BLEND INFORMATION

100% Shiraz

ENJOY

A very distinctive wine which shows great potential for aging and will pair brilliantly with fresh oysters
