CLOUDS CHENIN BLANC  2017


 

TASTING NOTES 

This wine was made from old bush vines grown in Wellington, (35 years +).  The wine was raised in concrete egg and amphora to truly reflect only the old vine chenin character.  On the nose expect tropical notes of nectarine and ripe pear with a textural complex palate typical of this grape.

 

OTHER INFORMATION

Fermented naturally and then matured for 10 months before bottling.

 

ENJOY

This classic example of old vine Chenin goes great with a variety of seafood dishes and creamy pastas.

CLOUDS CHARDONNAY 2015


TASTING NOTES

This wine shows rich, leesy characteristics with crushed sea-shells, citrus and freshly cut limes. The palate is very focused and minerally driven, complemented by loads of yellow stone fruit.  

 

Mostly fruit from the estate was used, with some fruit from the Koue Bokkeveld area, minimal interference in the cellar was incorporated. 

 

ENJOY

Ice cold, on its own or goes well with a variety of dishes.  Save it for a year (if you can) because it will only become better with age.

 

AGING POTENTIAL

To be enjoyed now, but will mature well for another 2-4 years.

TASTING NOTES

This wine has a delicate, fresh entry and shows crushed seashells, citrus blossoms and freshly cut limes on the nose.  The palate is tropically driven with a persistent mineral finish. 

 

ENJOY

This chardonnay pairs brilliantly with fresh oysters and other seafood, as well as game fish. 

 

AGING POTENTIAL

A very distinctive wine which shows great potential for aging 5 – 7 years.

CLOUDS PINK SAUVIGNON BLANC 2016



TASTING NOTES

Bright and pure with a light salmon colour.  This sauvignon with its splash of syrah show freshly cut berries and perfume on the nose.  The palate is delicate with hints of wild strawberries complimented by a vibrant acidity from the sauvignon blanc grape.

 

ENJOY

If there was ever a wine to be enjoyed by the pool, it’s this one – no matter what the time of day.

TASTING NOTES

The wine shows fresh yeasty aromas on the nose. The palate is clean and crisp, with green apple and a delicious sweet/sour character, leading to a long, creamy finish. This wine is made from 100% chardonnay grapes and spent 12 months on the lees, adding extra finesse.

 

ENJOY

This wine has celebration written all over it, and goes extremely well smoked salmon or grilled tuna.  We particularly like it with breakfast, we serve it daily on our breakfast buffet.

TASTING NOTES

A tropical nose with some upfront mineral notes, this wine displays bright aromas of granadilla and more subtle nuances of gooseberry.  This follows through to a crisp dry wine on the palate with a distinct lingering finish.  A real crowd pleaser.

Ice cold, on its own or goes well with a variety of dishes.  Save it for a year (if you can) because it will only become better with age.

Dark and brooding, with black current and fynbos dominating the nose.  The palace it rich & dense with ripe, round tannins and just enough acidity to balance the fruit.

This blend of Cabernet, Merlot and Petit verdot is grown on Clouds Estate and harvested, fermented and matured together.  The wine spent 20 months in older French oak before being bottled with minimum filtration. 

 

ENJOY

Decant if possible, enjoy with hearty meat dishes and in front of a roaring fire.

TASTING NOTES

This pinot is more fruit forward and concentrated than previous vintages and much more intense in colour as a result of adding a Stellenbosch component grown on Clouds Estate.  The nose is deep and brooding and shows a medley of perfumed red and black fruit with typical sour cherry, wild strawberries and also some earthy undertones.  It is a wine that is complex and fresh at the same time with just the right balance of acidity as backbone.

 

ENJOY

This red beauty will age well – that’s assuming you manage to resist drinking it before then. In summer, it is delicious when chilled, served just a few degrees below room temperature.

TASTING NOTES

This Pinot noir is fruit-forward and concentrated. The nose is deep and brooding and shows a medley of perfumed purple and black fruit with typical sour cherry, black current and also some earthy undertones. It's a wine that's complex and fresh at the same time with just the right balance of fruit, oakand acidity.

 

ENJOY

We recommend this wine slightly chilled in the warmer months. It pairs well with seared ostrich, and is a good match with beetroot, mushrooms or rhubarb.

CLOUDS SHIRAZ 2016

 

TASTING NOTES

This Shiraz shows very perfumed purple fruit on the nose which also leads to the palate. The concentration and density of the Shiraz is balanced by good acid tension and delicate fruit. Soft and textured with loads of dark spice and a mineral finish.  Wine was oaked for 18 months in seasoned casks (no new oak) and only 9 barrels was produced. The wine was left to ferment naturally, and 30% of the bunches were whole pressed.

 

ENJOY

This wine is the perfect choice with game dishes.  Chef Linney paired it with crispy pork belly and Cajun spices for the Clouds tasting plates.
